Hammam Ritual 45'

A hammam is a room with a structure specifically designed to perform the hammam ritual. The steam bath is intended to soften the skin and prepare it for exfoliation with black soap.
The steam bath lasts approximately 15 minutes.
The hammam ritual deeply cleanses the skin; it is exfoliated and free of impurities.
The hammam ritual therefore involves four steps to achieve this result:
- Steam bath
- Application of black soap to prepare the skin for exfoliation
- Exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and external impurities
- Application of ghassoul to eliminate subcutaneous impurities.
Black soap:
With a pH of approximately 10, it will remove the outermost layer of the epidermis: the layer of dead skin cells. Black soap should be used in a warm place (warm skin softens) and on damp skin.
Exfoliation:
Before exfoliating your skin, always rinse the black soap with warm water (if possible, wet the glove with warm water 5 minutes beforehand). Then, exfoliate your skin with a khessa glove.
Ghassoul:Ghassoul means "the one who washes" in Arabic. This product exists only in Morocco, 200 km south of Fez, and has been used there since the 12th century. It is the most absorbent of all clays. Therefore, using ghassoul after exfoliation helps to draw out subcutaneous impurities and harmful bacteria.
